1) MONTECATINI TERME - OPEN WEEK OPENING IN 2018 - 31st MARCH

11.30 am Meeting at GROTTA MAONA for the inauguration of the GROTTA MAONA reopening and a short trekking route to Via Riaffrico with a view on the CAVA di MAONA. Followed by those who want GUIDED TREKKING to CAVA and BELVEDERE and return to the GROTTA.

2) PESCIA - PODESTA’ PALACE AND GYPSOTEQUE “Libero Andreotti”

3) PONTE BUGGIANESE - ON BOAT AROUND THE FUCECCHIO MARSHLANDS – GUIDED Boat “BARCHINO” tours.

Guided visit with the typical small boat “barchino” used by countrymen in the past: hundreds of birds can be spot on their spring and summer habitat, the largest inland humid marsh area in Italy and Europe.  NEW! SUNSET VISIT: departure at dawn, with final aperitive.

4) VINCI - LEONARDO DA VINCI’S BIRTH HOUSE MUSEUM

5) MONTECARLO - CERRUGLIO FORTRESS OPENING

The stunning fortress of Cerruglio, overlooking both the valleys Valdinievole and Lucca, is exceptionally open for visits during the Open Week 2018. Don’t miss the chance to wal on the fortress walls and to see how the defense of the whole Lucca territory was held strong against Florence during Medieval cruel fights and battles.

6) LARCIANO - THE RURAL LIFE IN MARSHLAND

From the Medici Farm of Stabia TO THE museum of the “CASADEI” COUNTRY CIVILITY OF BAGNOLO
Through a path on the grounds once of the Medicean Farm of Stabbia we know the life of the inhabitants of the Padule di Fucecchio: farmers, fishermen and hunters who for centuries have created a rural society of which traces can still be appreciated. Passing in front of the Villa Medicea we descend along the road to Bagnolo, where we find the CASA DEI Museum of Farming Civilization, which collects agricultural equipment and objects linked to the historical and environmental memory of the place. During the stop at the Museum it will be possible to enjoy a TASTING of local products, organized by the CASA DEI Cultural Association. Continue to the “Garden of Meditation” and equipped path of the “Vincio Vecchio”, where the testimonies of the ancient reclamations for flooding are still legible.

7) CERRETO GUIDI - MEDICI VILLA

For the first time in Open Weeks CERRETO GUIDI incredible Renaissance MEDICI VILLA, UNESCO world Heritage from 2013, will be available for FREE GUIDED VISITS!
With its predominant position overlooking the Marsh inland area of Fucecchio and the sweet hills around, this Villa was the favorite one of COSIMO DE’ MEDICI: the visits include an incredible tour in the internal hidden rooms of the villa and of the monumental staircases and garden outside the Villa.
SCHEDULE guided visit is FREE and starts at 4.00pm – please find yourself ready by 3.45pm

8) SERRAVALLE PISTOIESE - BARBAROSSA TOWER

For the first time in Open Weeks SERRAVALLE PISTOIESE Medieval Village and  its Barbarossa majestic Tower will be available for FREE VISITS! The tours will start from Castruccio medieval castle and goes on at the San Michele church and the Virgin Oratory, with frescoes from 1300. The visits will end at the Barbarossa medieval tower, erected in 1140 and climbable up to the top.

9) VILLAGE of VELLANO (PESCIA) – A Caveman collection: “La Miniera di Publio”

A long lasting life collection of caveman tools and mineral rocks kept in a small museum in the village of Vellano, the biggest one in the Valleriana, or Switzerland from Pescia as they call this area: the tools and rocks also come from the active stone cave “Nardini” close-by.
All the kids visiting with families will get a free gift from the museum!

10) LARCIANO - LEONARDO DA VINCI’s Machines and Models – Exhibition

After a massive exhibition in France, Poussan, with more than 4000 visitors, more than 50 wooden scaled models from the Vinci’s genius will be exposed in the Castle of Larciano, a suggestive location overlooking the same valley Leonardo used to look at when he was a young boy.  The models have been realized by an architect (Dr. Andrea Neri ) after Leonardo’s drawings, and descriptions are available in English, French and Italian.
In the Exhibition time schedules it will be possible to visit the Archeological City Museum as well, in the same exhibition area.
