VILLAGE of CASTELVECCHIO – Medieval “PIEVE” Church of Castelvecchio
Opening of the oldest medieval “Pieve” church of the area, fully rebuilt two centuries ago: a “Pieve” was a visible church on the top of a hill or mountain, with a considerably high bell tower to serve more villages in the nearbys of a mountain territory, where more often priests or bishops would come and serve for a Holy Mass. The visit may include the Oratory of Castelvecchio with some 1700 paintings and a scenic view over the valley.
Many TREKKING itineraries cross the valley and this “Pieve”.

For the first time in Open Weeks SERRAVALLE PISTOIESE Medieval Village and  its Barbarossa majestic Tower will be available for FREE VISITS! The tours will start from Castruccio medieval castle and goes on at the San Michele church and the Virgin Oratory, with frescoes from 1300. The visits will end at the Barbarossa medieval tower, erected in 1140 and climbable up to the top.

UZZANO

GUIDED Walk in the historical centre of Uzzano and Visit of the Church San Jacopo and Martino, from 1200. Meeting point at the Door of the village “Porta delle Pille” and walk up the hill to admire the best panorama in Valdinievole east. Visit of the Palazzo del Capitano and meeting with Olive Oil Producers from “La Strada dell’Olio della Valdinievole”, with a nice piano concert  with Puccini arias, since the composer used to spend up here some of his holidays. The local bar “circolo Bardelli” will be open and in service throughout.
