Towards the middle of the 19th century, Montecatini Terme became a precious and prestigious European salon, constantly enriching itself with “new” architecture in Art Nouveau style, exhibiting distinctive and very personal characteristics of lightness and sobriety.

Prominent among these works is the “Politeama Theatre”, today known as the “Multisala Imperiale” (Imperial multi-screen Cinema). The building, constructed in 1926 to a design by architect Nervi, is located on Viale Verdi (one of the city’s most beautiful and important streets), within walking distance of the main hotels and shops.
