Dal 15 novembre 2025 al 15 febbraio 2026 il Mo.C.A. di Montecatini Terme ospiterà la mostra Il Novecento di Catarsini. Dalla macchia alla macchina, curata dalla Fondazione Alfredo Catarsini 1899 ETS e promossa e realizzata in collaborazione con l’Assessorato alla Cultura del Comune di Montecatini Terme.
La vita di Alfredo Catarsini ha quasi valicato un secolo, il secolo scorso. Tempi non facili, di guerre e di poco, ma anche di rinascita e grandi mutamenti.
Trasformazioni talvolta esaltanti che hanno davvero cambiato il modo di vivere della sua generazione e delle generazioni future. Purtroppo non sempre in meglio.
Una rassegna, questa, che sicuramente affascinerà gli appassionati di pittura e sarà capace di offrire a tutti spunti di riflessione, quelli stessi che Catarsini ci regalato attraverso quasi 70 anni di arte.
Con tale rassegna, concepita come itinerante, il nome di Montecatini Terme si affianca a quello del Vittoriale degli Italiani dove la mostra ha per così dire inaugurato il suo percorso per poi spostarsi in Toscana dove Firenze, Viareggio e Pisa hanno accolto le opere di Catarsini in contesti prestigiosi quali Palazzo Sacrati Strozzi, sede della Giunta Regionale della Toscana, Villa Museo Paolina Bonaparte e il Fortilizio della Cittadella.
La rassegna sarà inaugurata sabato 15 novembre, alle 11 presso la Galleria Civica di Viale Giuseppe Verdi 46, alla presenza, oltre che del Vicesindaco e Assessore alla Cultura Beatrice Chelli, della Presidente della Fondazione Alfredo Catarsini 1899, Elena Martinelli, e dello storico dell’arte Rodolfo Bona.
L’intero percorso espositivo de Il Novecento di Catarsini. Dalla macchia alla macchina rientra nel progetto pluriennale “L’Arte accessibile per tutti” che, promosso dalla Fondazione Alfredo Catarsini 1899 ETS, mira a rendere l’arte e i luoghi di cultura e turistici accessibili a chiunque. La mostra infatti è stata pensata per essere visitata anche da persone con disabilità visiva, che possono esplorarla in autonomia e al proprio ritmo.

L’esposizione è dedicata al pittore viareggino Alfredo Catarsini, artista curioso e sperimentatore che attraversò tutto il Novecento,
passando dalla pittura di macchia al suo originale Simbolismo Meccanico, in cui arte e modernità si fondono in un linguaggio unico e visionario.
