La Fontana dei Coccodrilli, considerata il simbolo del Tettuccio, fu realizzata dal fiorentino Sirio Tofanari ed installata il 17 ottobre 1926 in occasione dell’inaugurazione del centro termale. La fontana è costituita da due coccodrilli di bronzo che sorreggono una conchiglia di granito scuro del Labrador; da questa la sorgente del Tettuccio sgorga in un’ampia vasca circolare di travertino, decorata con cavallucci marini e blocchi di vetro verdi.
L’opera del Tofanari è stata restaurata nel marzo del 2023, grazie ad un importante intervento promosso e finanziato dall’associazione Angeli del Bello di Montecatini Terme. Il restauro ha portato al rifacimento del basamento, ormai danneggiato dalla normale usura del tempo. Si tratta di uno splendido gioco d’acqua che celebra la magnificenza dello stabilimento più rappresentativo della città termale.
