The centerpiece of the celebrations is the exhibition titled “Galileo Chini – Works in Public and Private Collections of Montecatini Terme,” which will take place from July 15, 2023, to January 7, 2024, at Mo.C.A. – Montecatini Terme Contemporary Art, a small but prestigious Civic Gallery that houses one of the world’s largest Mirò works, “Dona Voltada d’un Vol d’Ocells.”

The exhibition, created for the 150th anniversary, will host over forty works by Galileo Chini, sourced from the municipal territory, as well as public and private collections. Among them, the majestic “Primavera Classica,” owned by the ViValBanca Foundation, takes a prominent place.

Acting as a backdrop for this masterpiece and mostly unpublished works are the stained glass windows adorning the premises of Mo.C.A. and the murals and veils of the Town Hall, also created by the Master and his Workshop.

The objective of the exhibition is to explore the deep connection between Montecatini and the works of this Master, who so beautifully marked the spa town with his work, turning it into a jewel of the early 20th century. Additionally, it aims to provide a comprehensive insight into the entire creative journey of the Artist, who was not only a great decorator and sublime ceramist but also a skilled painter, illustrator, set designer, urban planner, teacher, and a man of significant civic engagement.
