Situato sulla destra del Viale Verdi, fu costruito dal 1913 al 1919 nel luogo in cui c’erano le scuderie granducali, per dotare la città di una sede civica rappresentativa ed appropriata alle dimensioni ed al ruolo che andava assumendo.
Questo complesso sportivo risalente agli anni ‘20 del 900 è situato nel parco tra gli stabilimenti termali Tettuccio e Torretta.
Il suo ingresso è un padiglione terrazzato con scalinata, realizzato dall’architetto Ugo Giovannozzi, che porta ai quattro campi da tennis in terra rossa.
Tra le personalità che contribuirono ad affermare Montecatini Terme nel panorama turistico internazionale, ci fu sicuramente Pietro Grocco, il medico alborese nominato nel 1892 Ispettore Governativo e direttore sanitario degli Stabilimenti termali.

L’edificio porta impressi i nomi di alcune delle personalità più note di Montecatini Terme e della Toscana tutta. La costruzione della villa venne infatti commissionata dal medico Alberto Scalabrino a Giulio Bernardini, l’architetto che curò la progettazione urbanistica di Montecatini
